Google have allied with VW and graphics chipmaker, Nvidia, to introduce an in-car navigation system that utilises the Google Maps service. A prototype was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January.

The GoogleNav will reportedly bring new levels of detail and accuracy to car navigation and overcome some of the limitations present in current navigation systems.

Now if Google could only track your movements and target specific adverts at you whilst you drive past billboards and shopping malls, based on your search history and outgoing Gmails then they’d be onto something really special…
