There’s never a shortage of gadgets for contender of the year and last year the iPhone, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, N95, Garmin StreetPilot, Nintendo DS, and Sony eBook Reader competed for top honours. But what about those gadgets on the other end of the spectrum; the useless ones?
Well, I sure know where my nomination will be going. The USB vacuum cleaner (pictured below on my desk) sounds like something no self-respecting Dilbert should live without, but believe it or not it didn’t suck the crumbs off my desk as advertised. Although I love the retro-brown paint job, it unfortunately makes for a frustrating, power-draining experience and I am trying to figure out a way of making it someone else’s problem. I challenge anyone to come up with a bigger let-down!

In a brilliant display of cross-media strategy, Rockstar, the makers of the popular Grand Theft Auto franchise, are encouraging people to record their rants & raves over the phone in the hopes that they get featured on WKTT Radio, the fictitious station in the upcoming GTA IV, due to be released later this year.
The procedure is very simple. Dial 212-360-2368 (add U.S dialling code) and leave a response on one of the following topics:
- What’s wrong with your health?
- What’s wrong with the world?
- What’s wrong with America?
- What’s wrong with you?
This is definitely something all GTA fans, bona fide crackpots and conspiracy theorists should do; at least once.
For more info, check out the official WKTT Radio site.
Back!!!
Well, after a long leave of absence and suffering from a serious bout of blog neglect syndrome, I am back for the year with a fresh new redesign (which has kept me pretty busy in my free time) and a re-energized spirit. I have a feeling that 2008 is going to be a great year!
BTW if you’re wondering what “secret sauce” I used whilst I was on holiday, I’ve decided to come clean and admit I had some help from the latest craze hitting our shores – Powerthirst:
